I am: Earth Mother
"There is a rustic simplicity and honesty about the way you furnish your home. If interior design corresponded with styles of cooking, your recipe would be a wholesome, hearty pot-roast, perhaps, or something inspired by the Italian Slow Food Movement. Your approach to interior design is almost elemental, certainly in terms of colour, texture, and (above all) materials."
Thanks for the link. I like my result. I'm Swiss Family Robinson:
ReplyDeleteOK, you may not have been shipwrecked on a desert island, but your home is full of furniture, objects and bric-a-brac from around the world. You have an easy knack of mixing your finds while dealing with the practical needs of a family: your home is packed with interesting things; it's welcoming and - above all - it's you.
CLASSIC COUNTRY
ReplyDeleteYou take the inspiration for your home from the surrounding countryside. And why not? The country cottage look has been, and continues to be, the epitome of what a family 'home' should stand for: warm, welcoming, cosy and comfortable. There's nothing at all pretentious about this style, just a love of the good, simple pleasures in life.
Classic Country!! And that is SO SO true for me!
ReplyDeleteTHANKS FOR THE LINK!YOUR BLOG INSPIRES ME SO MUCH!BLESSINGS, FAYE
ReplyDeleteHow fun! I'm Bohemian Rhapsody-No one would ever accuse you of restraint when it comes to decorating and furnishing your home. You are a glamour puss, never happier than when an opportunity arises to add another flourish of theatrical pizzaz to your home. We are not saying you're a drama queen, really...!
ReplyDeleteHummmmm....Those of you who know me and have seen my house, do you agree with this assessment? Pop on over to my blog and leave me a note....
I think mine was pretty true. I wish I had a little more money to put into decorating but I think this is how I would like to describe my style.
ReplyDeleteFAMILY MODERN:
Your home confidently embraces the many needs of busy, family life. It's adaptable and easy to live with, reflecting your sense of style without having to banish the kids to the attic or basement. You're sensitive to elements of design such as colour, light and architectural detail, mixing items that are relatively disposable with other pieces that, in time, will become family heirlooms.
Country'n'Modern
ReplyDeleteIt sounds unlikely, but rural properties are amazingly adaptable to a modern style - as your home proves. The country-meets-modern look relies on natural materials and, very often, the immediate landscape for inspiration. The result perfectly combines the simplicity of colour and form without overlooking basic comfort and, indeed, the practicalities of raising a family.
Comfy Country! That was fun.
ReplyDeleteCountry 'N' Modern. Thanks for the link- it was fun, and your blog is charming.

ReplyDeleteThat is the coolest quiz!!
ReplyDeleteACTION STATIONS
For a family home, your style is surprisingly masculine. Perhaps it's to do with the gadgets you own, though more likely about the choices you make when it comes to colour and functionality of design. Chances are, perhaps, that your busy lifestyle adds an element of unavoidable chaos to an otherwise orderly and disciplined aesthetic.
That last sentence is especially true, btw! Jessica
I've taken the test two more times, and both times I've been classic country--You take inspiration for your home from the surrounding countryside. And why not? The country cottage look has been, and continues to be, the epitome of what 'home' stands for: warm, welcoming, cozy, and comfortable. There is nothing at all pretentious about this style, just a love of the good, simple, pleasures in life.
ReplyDeleteI agree with this more than me being a 'bohemian rhapsody'. I think I'm classic country cottage with bits of bling thrown in; my landscape wall and things collected from my travels. So a bit of bohemian perhaps?
I was classic counrty, not sure if that fits or not? I feel like my home still has so far to go, but maybe when all is said and done, (will it ever be?)I will fit into this better, I do like what is says about what my home is...warm welcoming, cosy and comforatable...that is definatly what I am going for! Fun quiz Laurel!
ReplyDeleteI am family modern, which is just about right since I waffle between a modern look and a house filled with crochet, knitting and my grandmother's ice tea glasses. I don't like clutter and love houses with lots of light and space. The "stuff" I prefer tends to have sentimental value. So, yep, family modern is probably a good fit. ;)
ReplyDeleteI'm Classic Country...but I didn't copy what it said about me:)
ReplyDeleteSo fun! I can't wait to take the quiz....
ReplyDeleteI liked the quiz, it was spot on, I am a yummy mummy. I found this hysterical as I am the mom of 9 and was baking cupcakes at the time.
ReplyDeleteHow fun! I love quizes like these. I was "Duchess of Distinction" described as masculine, comfortable, and self-indulgent. Come check out my house and see if thats right.
ReplyDeleteI'm Comfy Country...figures since I grew up in the country. LOL
