  1. Laurel, Thanks for the great list. I am working on mine still and look forward to finishing it in the next couple of days. BTW, I may steal a couple of your ideas!

  2. I've read twenty of your thirty-four, and out of those, one of the best was John Adams. The Practice of the Presence of God by Brother Lawrence is a classic I come back to frequently. Good list!

I keep the Shaunti Feldman book as an occasional kick-in-the-pants motivator : )

I also really enjoyed the Eric Brende book when it first came out, then realized last year on a CSA visit that our food was coming from the undisclosed "Minimite" community described in the book. That was pretty fun!

  4. Great list! I hope you make it all the way through it this year. Are the asterisks ones you've read before?

I've read Better Off, Last Child in the Woods (liked both), and parts of the Charlotte Mason series, Age of Opportunity, and Supper of the Lamb. Also books by others on the list, or just know that they're well worth reading. Wish I'd read more of them.

  5. Hi! I just stumbled across your blog and will put it on my list to check often as you seem to be in a similar place in life as me. I read Better Off last year and loved it. It was very informational as well as interesting. I have also read Good and Angry. It was okay- I did get a couple of good tips from it.
    Keep up the good work.
